Corporate controllers oversee the accounting and financial reporting functions of a company and should have strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting. Businesses prefer candidates with a CPA, CGMA or CMA, a master’s degree in business administration and experience working in public accounting. The job typically requires 10 years of experience in finance and accounting, with five years in a managerial capacity.
