Proposal Specialist Job Description

A proposal specialist coordinates the development, completion and submission of responses to requests for proposal (RFPs) with minimum supervision and under strict deadlines. The ability to write clearly, concisely and persuasively is a must for this position. Employers often require several years of experience in proposal and business writing and may also prefer candidates with industry knowledge. Project coordination and business editing skills are pluses.

Typical proposal specialist duties:

Collaborating with internal departments to develop proposal content that is high-quality, accurate and in accordance with RFP requirementsEnsuring content presented in the RFP communicates a company’s capabilities, policies, products and services effectivelyConducting market research and identifying and monitoring proposal opportunities across multiple print and digital media platforms
